Update 8AM 10/8/2016: FirstLandings Aviation has resumed dispatching flights as scheduled. At this time, we are continuing to monitor the track of Hurricane Matthew as it weakens on its course northward.
Some forecasts call for Matthew to turn back on a southwestern course and near the eastern coastline of Florida again. Please continue to monitor the storm. Should the storm impact FirstLandings operations, we will post any information here.
FirstLandings Aviation is committed to the safety of our students, renter, club members, and staff. Hurricane Matthew is expected to make landfall in Florida within the next 24 hours. At this time, FirstLandings Aviation leadership has determined that for the safety of all involved, our flights scheduled after 12PM on Thursday, June 6th through 8PM on Friday, June 7th, have been cancelled.
Students, Renters, and Club Members scheduled for flights on Saturday, June 8th, should continually monitor the weather and all applicable forecasts. FirstLandings will determine at a later point of more flights will be cancelled based on weather conditions and the condition of the airport.
FirstLandings encourages everyone to follow the direction of all authorities having jurisdiction in respect to hurricane preparedness and evacuation orders. We hope everyone stays safe and look forward to flying again next week.
